Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

Acting Judge, Campbell Municipal Court -- 2007-2011.

Abbreviated Candidate Answers

Acting Judge, Campbell Municipal Court -- 2007-2011.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

For over 23 years, I have served as the Prosecutor for the Campbell Municipal Court and Director of Law for the City of Campbell.  On a weekly basis I have been closely involved with the Court's procedures.  I have a full understanding of all aspects of the Court's operation, both in and out of the courtroom. For four years, I served as Judge's Cunning's Acting Judge.  I have knowledge of matters important to a properly functioning Court such as: finances and budgeting; personnel; and, facilities management and security, having worked directly with Judge Cunning and the Court's staff on all these behind-the-scenes issues throughout my tenure.  Additionally, I have been an active trial lawyer for all of my 30+ years practicing law.  I am near-daily in a courtroom, litigating some matter.  I possess a strong knowledge of civil and criminal law based on that experience; and I also am well-versed with evidence and procedure rules -- skills extremely important for someone serving as a Municipal Court Judge.  Outside of my professional experience, what also uniquely qualifies me for the Campbell Municipal Court bench is my lifetime commitment to the City of Campbell.  I have lived at only two addresses -- both in Campbell -- my entire life.  I was exclusively educated in our Campbell School District.  I support our community's organizations, especially those focused on the youth of Campbell and Coitsville.  I know our community's values because they are my values.  It is my intention to apply those standards, fairly and reasonably, to everyone appearing in Campbell Municipal Court.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

Campbell is my hometown and my home.  I have dedicated myself, personally and professionally, to our community.  My over 23 years as Director of Law is the longest service of anyone in the City's history.  Over that time my commitment is shown by my being available to our safety forces, adminsitration and Council, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Campbell City Council recently honored me on the occasion of my 500th Council meeting.  I worked closely with Judge Almasy and currently with Judge Cunning on all parts of the Court's operations during their respective tenures on our Court's bench.  My commitment to our community's orgnizations is well known.  I believe that of the candidates, I have the experience, knowledge, and dedication to best serve the citizens of Campbell and Coitsville.  It has been an honor to serve my hometown for many years, and it is my hope to continue to provide that service to our community by responsibly operating the Campbell Municipal Court in a manner attentive to the needs of the citizens that the Court serves.
