Question 1

List your judicial experience (courts and years)

My 37 year legal career has been as a practitioner, and as such, I do not have judicial experience.

Abbreviated Candidate Answers

My 37 year legal career has been as a practitioner, and as such, I do not have judicial experience.

Question 2

What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

I am running for an open seat on the Parma Municipal Court. For the past 25 years, I have actively practiced in that Court and have been the legal representative for both the Court and the Clerk of Courts. I am intimately aware of the daily functioning of the Court. Additionally, I have worked with the Judges of the Court to create innovative programs at the Court, including a Witness/Victim Advocate, a First-time Offender Diversion Program, and a Traffic Intervention Program to help traffic offenders become compliant with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicle requirements.
In addition to being the elected Law Director and Chief Prosecutor for the City of Parma, I have engaged in the private practice of law for 37 years where I have represented clients in a variety of legal matters including, without limitation, estate planning matters, real estate matters, criminal defense, and probate cases.

Question 3

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

I believe that public service is a high calling.    I have devoted my entire professional career to public service.    Prior to becoming an attorney, and while I was in law school, I served my community as a two-term councilman in Parma.   After becoming an attorney in 1986, I served nearly eleven years as an Assistant County Prosecutor in Cuyahoga County where I prosecuted, murder and rape cases in the Major Trial Division.   After that service, I have served six terms and am in my twenty-fifth year as the Law Director/Chief Prosecutor for the City of Parma, the largest city in the Parma Municipal Court District.

I believe that all my prior public service has uniquely prepared me to serve as Judge in the Parma Municipal Court District.

I look forward to the challenges of working in the judiciary and continuing my public service to my community.

Thank you.
