What non-judicial legal experience qualifies you to be a judge?

I was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for 23 years before being hired as a Magistrate in Juvenile Court.  I have spent 20 years of my career in Juvenile Court.  First, as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney prosecuting juvneniles for misdemeanor and felony crimes. And currently, I am a Juvenile Court Magistrate presiding over civil private custody cases.  My work experience for the last 26 years has predominately been in Montgomery County Juvenile Court.  I am familiar with the juvenile laws as well as the current procedures of the court.

Why are you running for this particular court seat?

The majority of my working life has been spent working in Juvenile  Court.  I am passionate about making victims whole and rehabilitating juvenile offenders.  I believe that juveniles who commit crimes need to be punished, but also need to be provided an opportunity to be rehabilitated in most instances.  I believe in maintaining the Court's current programs and also in devloping new programs that benefit juvenile offenders and their families.  I am accutely aware of the needs of victims of crime, but I am also very aware that most juveniles who commit criminial acts will be returned to society and need to be provided with programs that will lessen the likelihood of them re-offending.
